NANZQ Quilts Aotearoa 2007

This years show, from 22 - 23 September, was another great success with a wonderful range of quilts shown to advantage in a spacious venue.

It was exciting to see an increase in beautiful traditonal bed and wall quilts with 'Shades of Autumn' a traditonal bed quilt by Mary Transom of Ohope, taking out the Best of Show prize. (This quilt won the Best Machine Quilting prize in the World Quilt Show in USA last year.)

155 quilts were selected for the show from 194 entries. There was also an increase in the number of entries from Junior quilters this year with a total of 15. The process of selecting directly from the quilts, rather than from photographs was most successful and will be the process of choice for the future. Judging then followed once the quilts were hanging in the show venue.

Next years show dates in conjunction with the Craft and Quilt Fair at Claudelands (new) Events Centre, Hamilton will be 18 - 21 September 2008.
